' Knowledge will give you power,
but character respect '
' No-one is born hating another person
because of the colour of his skin or his
background or his religion. People must
learn to hate, and if they can be taught to
hate, they can be taught to love, for
love comes more naturally to the
human heart than its opposite '
of true education '
'The function of education is to teach
one to think intensively and to think critically.
Martin Luther King Jr
Intelligence plus character, that is the goal
' I alone cannot change the world
but I can cast a stone across
the waters to create many ripples'
'I am against every form of racism and
segregation, every form of discrimination,
I believe in human beings and that all human
being should be respected as such,
regardless of their colour'
' Peace cannot be kept by force,
it can only be attained by understanding '
Welcome to The Respect Programme website. An online resource providing ready-made lesson plans on issues such as citizenship, prejudices, extremism, staying safe online, Britishness and more! The plans are available to teachers in secondary schools and colleges throughout Leicester and Leicestershire to download for FREE.
Lesson plans have been designed primarily for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 use. In our initial consultation exercise with teachers it was felt that the best age groups to cover such material with would be years 8, 9 and 10, the plans have therefore been prepared with these age group in mind.
"I am really impressed. These lessons are an excellent resource and will enable teachers to address a sensitive topic in an interesting and accessible manner.”
